Our Privacy Philosophy

HabitForge is built with privacy as a core principle. We believe your habit data should belong to you and stay with you.

Data Storage

What We Store

Everything stays in your browser.

  • All habit data is stored locally using IndexedDB (browser storage)
  • Your habits, tracking history, streaks, and notes never leave your device
  • No accounts, no servers, no cloud storage of your personal data

What This Means

  • ✅ Your data is completely private
  • ✅ Works offline after first load
  • ✅ No one can access your habits but you
  • ✅ Delete your browser data = delete all HabitForge data

Important Notes

  • Data is device-specific: Your habits won't sync across devices
  • Browser data clearing: Clearing your browser's storage will delete all habits
  • Responsibility: You are responsible for backing up your data using our export feature

Data We DON'T Collect

  • ❌ No user accounts or authentication
  • ❌ No email addresses
  • ❌ No passwords
  • ❌ No habit data sent to servers
  • ❌ No personal information
  • ❌ No tracking cookies

Analytics

We use Ahrefs Web Analytics to understand how people use HabitForge:

  • What we track: Page views, referral sources, general usage patterns
  • What we DON'T track: Your habit data, personal information, or individual behavior
  • Purpose: Improve the application and understand which features are most useful
  • Data retention: Analytics data is retained by Ahrefs according to their privacy policy

Third-Party Services

Ahrefs Web Analytics

  • Purpose: Understand website usage and performance
  • Data collected: Page views, referral information, browser type
  • Privacy policy: Ahrefs Privacy Policy

No AI Data Processing

  • HabitForge does not send your habit data to any AI services
  • Any future AI features will be clearly disclosed and optional
  • We will never train AI models on your personal habit data

Data Export and Portability

You can export all your data at any time:

  • Format: JSON (standard, readable format)
  • Includes: All habits, tracking history, notes, settings
  • Use: Backup, migrate, or keep a permanent record

Data Deletion

To delete all HabitForge data:

  1. Use the "Clear All Data" feature in the app settings, OR
  2. Clear your browser's storage/cache for habitmind.io

Your data will be immediately and permanently deleted.

Summary

Simple version: Your habits stay on your device. We use basic analytics to improve the site. We don't collect, store, or sell any personal information. You're in complete control.
